Advanced through a series of IT positions based on consistently strong
performance applying technology to business problems, improving productivity and
managing system development resources. Recognized and rewarded by upper
management and internal customers continuously for turning personal innovative
ideas into cost effective results and was the only developer of the San Antonio
factory applications group to get offered an internal telecommuting position
after the factory shutdown.
Regional Applications Manager/NA Business Applications Jan 2005 – Feb 2006
Remotely managed the North America Business Applications group to support and
develop over 20 applications for Customs, Data Retention, Finance, HR, Payroll
and Quality Management departments.
Key Achievements:
• Defined and coordinated new processes for the integration of a global IT
billing application into North America; worked overtime as necessary to deliver
project on schedule and received a KUDOs recognition award from the IT director
after implementation.
• Enhanced customer support model by restructuring resources and implementing
ITIL.
• Managed multiple application projects and actively developed in ASP.Net/C#/SQL
Server/Oracle SQL. Added new user change requests and bug fixes when programmers
weren’t available to handle additional load; involved developing, testing, user
acceptance, source safing code and deployment.
• Interacted with all levels of management and contributed key ideas and system
solutions which were implemented in making the business run smarter to strengthen
customer relationships.
Senior Information Systems Designer/NA Business Applications 2003 – 2005
Telecommuted to San Jose, CA from San Antonio, TX as an information systems
designer/developer for the North America Business Applications group.
Key Achievements:
• Served as technical lead in planning/coordinating remote data center composed
of IIS, SQL Server and Oracle RAC clusters for application high availability,
consolidation and standardization.
• Developed the following ASP.NET/C#/SQL Server/Oracle websites:
Application portal/central logon website – Created a forms
authenticated website (using the SecureAccess user management component from
portsight.com) to serve as a central user logon to automatically display a list
of websites a user had access based on role; e.g., a user manager role had access
to add/delete/modify users plus modify user website privileges. Developed
re-useable template for new websites to integrate into portal; template
integration involved copying starter files (.aspx/.ascx) and configuring
appSetting globals in Web.config. Built email workflow approval process for new
user website registration which passed a DES 256 encrypted XML structure with
user and website credentials; also used same encryption to jump between websites
for establishing a new website logon cookie bypassing a user sign-on. Added
custom T-SQL procedures to complement the SecureAccess schema in SQL Server 2000.
Used the SQLHelper application block for database transactions. Deployed
application within an IIS and SQL Server clustered environment.
HR website enhancement for scanned documents – Added additional
functionality to a clustered HR data retention website which allowed HR personnel
to search personnel records by Name or Employee ID for closed factories.
Involved re-engineering 3rd party scanner database into current HR application
schema, creating DTS packages for data import, creating search and results .aspx
forms. The search results displayed links to the scanner TIF images served by a
different file server. Used SQLHelper application block for database
transactions.
Manufacturing Data Retention website – Added two additional factories’
data into previously built document centric website (listed below in the Staff
CAM Engineer section); modified current SQL schema to integrate the additional
data and created several DTS packages for data imports. Leveraged off previously
built generic template to quickly create necessary search and display webpages.
Webpages displayed dataset results in a datagrid allowing sorting by column and
custom paging.
ROOTS website reengineering – Converted 21 Oracle WSDL webpages to
ASP.Net/C# to consolidate application into IIS cluster and improve performance.
Used the Oracle client and class to perform SQL transactions. Webpages displayed
dataset results in a datagrid allowing sorting by column and custom paging. Used
IIS Session object to store user privileges and Cache object to store large
datasets to eliminate database re-querying on resorts.
