Novel Network Administrator
[ Mar 1989 – Dec 1991 ] BGD Computer Systems, Statesville NC
Developer, Analyst
DBXL & FoxPro Developer of manufacturing systems
Designed and developed several “Finished Goods Inventory” and
“Distribution/Shipping” systems based on the standard inventory FIFO principles.
These systems also provided methods for periodic (usually semi-annual) physical
inventory processes to be conducted to satisfy company and 3rd party auditors.
Designed and developed many reports for many different companies that
were used to convey various types of standard “Production Reporting”. These were
used to inform management of both production levels within the plants as well as
to gather data for “piece mill” payroll operations.
RS-232 Toledo/Mettler Scale communications and interfaces
Developed interface applications that retrieved weight information from
various scales and captured them into inventory systems and printed package
labels as required.
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Wrote applications that exchanged order data with the ANSI 12 standards
for early EDI communications between customer (B2C) and vendor (B2B). These
applications both pulled information from vendors and pushed data to customers.
[ Mar 1987 – Feb 1989 ] King Hickory Furniture Co., Hickory NC
Operator, Developer
RPG II & dBase III Developer of manufacturing systems
Developed a PC based “Finished Goods Inventory” system for the styles
built as “in-stock” items and any goods that were cancelled prior to shipping for
use in assisting sales representatives with up-to-date levels of availability.
Developed a PC based “Product Tracking” system for a subsidiary company
to keep track of pieces of furniture in various stages of construction against
customer orders. This allowed schedulers to plan for timely deliveries and for
customer service to convey delivery information to customers as requested.
Gathered information for and help developed a “Bill of Materials”
system to track all the raw materials required to build each style of furniture.
This system was used to generate reports to assist in the purchasing of materials
required to build furniture for future orders.
