Duties:
Working as part of a team developing project kangaroo, a Video on
Demand service, for BBC, channel 4 and ITV.
Developing high quality Java code that is both efficient and safe.
Developing code that satisfies customer requirements.
Worked on new technologies, such as jaxb, dom4j, quova service, JPA and
so on.
Worked for a while in the quality assurance department, testing
applications and making sure they satisfy requirements.
I have picked up all the technologies required and got good reviews for
my dedication, willingness to learn and quick integration into the team.
Some of the particular tasks I worked on include, implementing Quova
system, which ensures only UK IP addresses were allowed to access the
application. Creating some web pages, including, the help pages, the about page,
broadcasters landing page and much more. I also implemented some of methods in
dom4j and jaxb API, the former to return playlist in XML and the latter converts
normal strings or files to XML document.

Manager
Funkes Place, 467 Clay Hill Road, Basildon. Funkes Place is a combination of
3 businesses, a video rental, a salon and an Afro Caribbean retail food outlet.
Duties include:
Setting up the new businesses: Initially, the shop was only a video
rental shop. I included the other two businesses.
Management: I manage the day to day running of all the different
sections of the business.
Staff management: I handle a total of two full time and two part time
staff. This includes wages, dispute handling, training, organisation, time
schedule and just generally making sure they are happy and productive.
Advertisement: this has included leaflets, boot sales, offers and
promotions.
Product sourcing and ordering: I order all the products for all the
business, which includes DVDs, food, and hair products. This also includes
dealing with suppliers and negotiating prices.
Cash handling and Accounts: I handle all the cash for all the different
sections and do all the account balancing, credits and debits.

Reading: I enjoy books on true crimes, unsolved crimes, forensic science,

Learning: I taught myself SAGE, Microsoft Access, Proteus, Latex and
bookkeeping.
Working with young people: In Nigeria, I started a youth group in my church.
Activities included, dancing, choreography, singing, counselling, tutorial
sessions, fund raising and charity events. The group started with about 10
members and has since grown to over 100 members in 5 different churches. I
recently also started a similar group in my local church.
Dancing: I enjoy dancing and I put together all the dance steps for the
group.
