PROJECT DETAILS – PATNI COMPUTER SYSTEMS, LIMITED

Client: General Electric Ltd., USA

GE-Transportation (GET) is a division of General Electric, one of the leading
producers of engines for military and commercial. It is also involved in the
sales and service of spare parts to customer.
 
Consolidated Application system of (CAS) is one of the legacy systems of GET.
This system deals with retail management of spare Inventory. In brief this module
deals with the customer proposal for parts, negotiations, signing of Contracts
between customer and GET, Order lodging, fulfillment, pick, pack, Shipping and
invoicing – with 25 major & minor enhancements

Invoice Generation- Enhancement Project to generate Invoice for Client Spares
Inventory

Key Responsibilities

•	Played a key role in requirement gathering phase with respect to collection of
receipt formats, receipt details. A detailed analysis of the requirements were
performed and an end to end requirements document was drawn
•	Responsible for designing and development of the invoice generation system &
invoice delivery through mail to concerned customers. The application was
developed using COBOL,IDMS,JCL
•	Involved in test data preparation, integration & regression testing inclusive
of documentation.
•	Responsible for planning, monitoring & documenting the deployment of this
application into production and their related issues

Expansion of Erlanger warehouse - Enhancement project to enable ‘EI’ type part
to be received at the Erlanger warehouse, Pick, Pack and Ship when needed in the
assembly. 

Key Responsibilities

•	Involved in complete analysis to understand all about a warehouse like its
structure, its operation, related systems etc.
•	Outlined the application design and performed an Impact Analysis on the
existing code base for estimating the complete effort involved for the
enhancement
•	Executed a Proof of Concept to evaluate the effectiveness of Cloning entire
Durham Warehouse functionalities into a new warehouse at Erlanger. 
•	Developed code for an entire warehouse functionality like receiving ‘EI’ type
parts, pick, pack and ship when needed by the assembly, invoicing in COBOL, IDMS,
JCL.
•	Developed front end screens for checking the stock, ordering, checking status,
invoicing using ADSO. 
•	Played a key role in identifying critical test data for functional,
integration and especially complex regression testing
•	Documented and converted the entire code base to production coding standards
for deployment of code to production region.


Feasibility Study & Scope Definition for moving all the military business
operations in to Forecasting mode. The forecasting mode helps to forecast the
amount of spares needed at the inventory to meet the future business needs.

Key Responsibilities

•	Involved in benchmarking the sales mode vs. forecasting mode.
•	Involved in forums with clients, stakeholders to identify the reqirement,
issues.
•	Designed and developed a design document explaining the technical changes,
feasibility, and scope.
•	Developed Statement of Work estimating the time and recourse needed.






Assembly Parts - Archive and Recall, enhancement project to archive the parts
that is not in demand and recall them when needed, to track parts ordering demand
model.

Key Responsibilities

•	Involved in discussion with client to understand the archive assembly parts
details.
•	Involved in prepare of the design/requirement document for the applications to
meet the customer requirements for functionality.
•	Involved in writing logic to archive the unused assembly parts ,recalling of
archived assembly part

Client: Serco Solutions, UK

Serco is an international service company extending services to IT sector,
finance, transport, aviation, and defence, commercial.

Location stage enhancement projects to increase the size of location fields to
accommodate business enhancements.

•	Played a key role in system analysis, preparation of Statement of work,
estimation of resource, design document preparation.
•	Designed the whole module to accommodate digit number modifications in all
impacted systems using locations like COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 & CICS.
•	Involved in preparation of  system test plan, unit test case, regression test
case and executed Unit testing, Regressive testing, volume testing.
•	Documented and prepared the code base for production.
