PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Advance Auto Parts, Inc.
5673 Airport Rd.
Roanoke, VA 24012
Position: Sr. Programmer/Analyst
Duration: 12/7/98 to Present
Duties: Supported and programmed new features for the Supply Catalog, Index
Catalog
and Mileage Log webs in ASP .Net.
Programmed new features and supported the Electronic Parts Catalog Lookup in all
3,000+ Advance Auto Parts Store. Allowed team members to look up parts for
particular vehicles, motorcycles or snowmobiles. Integrated with the Point of
Sale system.
Maintained the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) Quality Assurance system. This
system updated the store systems with data for the Advance Store’s auto parts
lookup system. I supported a staff of 19 members who worked in the EPC
Department. Performed routine data updates, and handled on the spot problems.
Played a vital role in the design and development of the new EPC system,
upgrading the old version in Microsoft Access 97 to a Visual Basic 6.0
application with a SQL Server 2000 back end.
Programmed new features and supported the APAL EPC Lookup system that is used in
all Advance Auto Parts stores nationwide.
Provided weekly executive level reporting on Cycle Counts and Advance Shipping
Notices (ASN).
Programmed the Telecom Reporting database that was used to generate
telecommunications reporting for upper management.
Designed and programmed the EPC-Purchasing Matching System. This system
compared the items on Advance’s AS400 based inventory system with the EPC
database residing on SQL Server 6.5. It required cross-platforming the AS400
with the SQL Server system. IBM Client Access drivers were used through an ODBC
connection accomplished connecting with the AS400. On the Windows side, two
applications were programmed to accomplish this task. One was a job scheduler
where it polled the AS400 and SQL Server systems, performed the necessary counts
and comparisons. The second application was an ActiveX Exe that allowed staff
members in the Purchasing Dept. to query the results so the buyers could
ascertain reasons why some stock was moving slower than others, etc.
Redesigned the Gastonia Shipping Tally program from a DOS-based application to a
Windows VB application. This system generated the necessary paperwork to send
freight to the Western Auto stores in Puerto Rico.
