WORK EXPERIENCE
August 2006–present: HomefrontOnline.com, freelance copy editor and consultant.
As a copy editor for this Web site, I edit at least 24 stories per month. I also
write headlines and captions. As a consultant, I have played a part in the
redesign and organization of this Web-based publication.

May 2007–present: GamersInfo.net, associate editor. As an associate editor for
GamersInfo.net, I edit reviews, find images and game information, create game
profiles and image galleries, and post reviews. I do this for at least one review
per day. I also work with reviewers to help with their writing, and I sometimes
write reviews.

August 2007–January 2009: KSA-Plus Communications Inc., project manager. As a
project manager for this small communications firm, I edited copy, proofread
pages, worked with printers, designers and clients, and sometimes did page
layout. I created schedules and kept projects on track. I also was in charge of
updating our company’s Web site and one client’s Web site.

January 2003–August 2007: Army Times Publishing Co., Springfield, Va., copy
editor/page designer; freelancer; Web editor. As a copy editor/page designer, I
worked on news and feature spreads. I edited and designed at least 10 stories and
10 pages and proofread at least 10 separate pages per issue during my time as
strictly a copy editor/designer. I also wrote headlines and captions. As a
freelancer for Army Times, I wrote a story or two, but I mainly did freelance
editing for supplemental publications. I also helped in the library to update the
archival database when years of stories and data were lost. As a Web editor, I
edit and update stories for 10 Web sites. I also write headlines and captions and
fill in for the print side of the publications as a copy editor and designer.
Besides editing on the Web desk, I have developed and maintained how-to files for
processes and procedures for the company’s newly created Web desk. Besides
editing and designing on the copy desk, I also created how-to files for many
processes and procedures for the copy desk. I’ve also started production on a
thorough database of company contacts.

February 2005–July 2006: Military Spouse Magazine, copy editor. As a copy editor
for this magazine, I edited at least 20 stories and 80 pages per issue. I also
wrote headlines and captions.

August 2002–December 2002: The (Terre Haute, Ind.) Tribune-Star, copy
editor/page designer. I edited at least 20 stories and 10 pages per issue. As a
slot person, I assured all copy was free of error and followed The Associated
Press and Tribune-Star style. I designed at least four pages per issue, including
writing headlines and captions.

May 2002–August 2002: Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, copy-editing intern. I
edited and wrote headlines and captions for at least 10 stories per issue for
this daily, five-edition newspaper.
