GM Powertrain / General Motors Corporation										1971 - 2001
Human Resource Representative 
I began working what was then Delco Moraine Div., GMC in Dayton, Ohio as a
cooperative student.  I did clerical work in the Hourly Employment and Accounts
Payable Department for approximately 3 years.  I then transferred to the Health
Care Department processing disability claims and collecting insurance premiums. 
After that I worked in the Workers Compensation and Retirement Department.  I
started out processing hourly employee’s applications for retirement benefits and
moved up to administrating workers’ compensation claims.  I processed the
required state claims, assisted in the investigation of employee injuries and
processed payments as we were self-insured.  I transferred to the Salaried
Employment Department.  I basically did the same things there as I did in the
hourly employment department, however it included Salaried Employee specific
areas such as evaluations, transfers and promotions and dealing with highly
confidential information.
In 1979 I transferred to what was then Delco Moraine in Fredericksburg, VA – now
called GM Powertrain Div. of GM.  This was a fairly new facility.  Based on my
experience in both hourly and salaried employment issues as well as health care
and workers compensation area, an offer of transfer to that plant was made and I
accepted.  As the plant grew so did the position.  I administered both hourly and
salaried employment issues as far as job position, rate, etc.   I also
administered the sick leave program and established the self-insured workers’
compensation area.  I investigated alleged injuries and either accepted the
liability and paid the claims or denied them and assisted our attorney in the
litigation of those issues that advanced to a legal matter.  
My job changed as more and more of the job became computerized; giving me the
opportunity to advance to handling labor relation matters.  The range of job
included negotiating with the UAW representative on various issues.  I worked
with a UAW liaison in establishing a work job training program for every
employee.  We also wrote and distributed a weekly plant newspaper as well as
administered the employee suggestion program jointly.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Since retirement I worked off and on with my husband, who owns his own Locksmith
and Decorative Door Hardware business.  As the business grew, we installed and I
set up Quick Books software. I also did all the required tax preparation
throughout the year, finally turning over everything to our accountant to file
our taxes.  As the business grew, we eventually hired an office manager who now
runs the office.

This is a home business I began.  I have several endeavors going on all the time
– constantly entertaining new home business opportunities.  I currently have two

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
While I only have a high school diploma, I did attend a few college courses and
numerous job training opportunities to stay abreast of the ever changing world of
the employment administration of the automotive business.
PERSONAL
You may ask why I am applying for a position with your company at this time.  I
was busy when I first retired and have a disability which prevents me from
sitting for extended periods of time; thus a disability retirement.   I miss the
interaction with people on an everyday business and problem solving issues that
would come up from day to day.  I have tried several work at home business
opportunities which none have paid off.  We went so far as to set up a
Corporation in my husband’s name and that any money I made online would be paid
to the McManious Enterprises, Inc. account rather than be paid to me and affect
my Social Security Disability Benefit.

I want to assure anyone who may question my ability to do this type of part-time
job that I am fully capable and eagerly willing to work for your organization and
hope you will give great consideration for my employment.
