Personal Statement
I develop a product's personality based upon the user's optimal interaction with
the underlying technology; a complex conception dettering a product's use, my
products are intuitive and a pleasure in use. I believe Industrial Design to be
the highest interaction of art and science.
Key Projects & Results
* Awarded 30+ patents in medical, consumer, engineering, and laser product
development.
* Program Manager, Dental Color Measuring device development for JJL
Technologies; administered $500,000/year budget. Product's exclusive
manufacturing and technology rites purchased by a global entity for the life of
its IP protection.
* Sourced and managed vendors in Finland, Estonia and the US for JJL's
production tooling/ component manufacture, thereby significantly reducing
budgeted production costs.
* For Dremel designed the revolutionary 'Stylus' hobbyist tool; product
transitioned quickly to full manufacture and, to become market segment leader.
* Invented a novel suturing technology that is incorporated within an Abdominal
Aortic Aneurysm-AAA treatment system. The now patented technology is projected to
be in human trials shortly and thereafter to have an estimated market valuation
of $150 million+.
* Created breast cancer screening system incorporating revolutionary scanning
technology. Product will afford patient dignity and comfort, and ease of control
to the care provider.
* For HGM designed Air-Cooled surgical and ophthalmic laser caseworks and
related fiber optic hand tools. With vigorous sales of its patented products, the
company became the product category's best selling manufacturer with annual sales
of up to $12 million.
* Co-created and presented curriculum for ITT Technical College's Industrial
Design program.
* As 'Industrial Design Associates' (IDA), designed dermatological,
photodynamic and surgical lasers, single-use/capped syringes, corneal scanner
(acquired by Bausch & Lomb), surge protection devices (EFI), and computer-related
hardware Evans and Sutherland (E&S)
