EXPERIENCE:
SOFTWARE ENGINEER II
Present
Enhanced, supported, reduced technical debt, and maintained a content management
application.

Lead the design and implementation of product cross selling as part of an
integrated attributes service sub-system between the web and the content
management systems.

Compiled, documented, designed, developed, and successfully deployed a product
sales tool. The system provided business partners the ability to reduce prices on
items that needed to be placed on sale. The tool removed the need for developers
to manually load items to be placed on sale in a spreadsheet and can focus on
more value-added tasks and projects. The system is a Java web application
running on tomcat 6 in a Linux Virtual Server, utilizing Spring MVC, Spring
Security, Ibatis, and Oracle as the technology stack. This internal system
integrates with the external facing ecommerce site.

Re-designed and re-implemented the content publish component to reduce and
eliminate non-value added support tasks. After implementation, non-value added
support tasks were reduced by more than 98%. The enhancement also provided users
with the ability to perform tasks that were once done by the development staff.
As a result, developers now have more time to focus on value-added tasks and
enhancement features.

Introduced and prototyped dragging and dropping features for the ecommerce site
using Scriptaculous and Prototype Javascripting framework.

Defined and created XSD for prototyping domain model of data to be published
between the disparate applications.

Investigated JBossESB for possible integration with various components within
the organization.

Designed, coded, and unit tested publish components to supply data to interface
with the web system and other potential consumers. Components leveraged xmlBeans,
Spring framework, Hibernate, and Ibatis.

Facilitated and made recommendations for coding standards, code review process,
and application architecture. Introduced EasyMock testing framework to the code
base. Lead efforts to integrate with Amazon’s Santana framework. Introduced
release management methodology concept. Introduced iterative development
concept.
