Q: Where
do all of the resumes on this site come from?
A: Resumes
are fed to this site on a regular basis by a variety of fee-based
career sites. In exchange for relinquishing a limited
quantity of resumes to our site, paid sites are allotted advertising
space on our site or in our newsletter. Fee-based career
sites enjoy tremendous advertising potential due to the extremely
large audience of recruiters that frequent this site on a regular
basis.
Q: What
is the best way to use this site?
A: Since
our resumes are organized in a 'directory' (similar to Yahoo), you will find resumes
listed under hundreds of category-pages related to skill-sets or
geographic areas. In fact, most resumes appear under several
such categories. The best approach for recruiters is to
identify between 3 and 10 categories that are most relevant to their
ongoing hiring needs. We recommend that recruiters
'bookmark' (or add to 'favorites') each of these 3 to 10 relevant
categories. Then on a daily basis select these pages from your
favorites menu to make your web browser quickly jump back to those
pages on our site. Using this technique, recruiters can quickly
monitor this site for new resumes added to their relevant
categories. Tip: One popular bookmark with recruiters is our New
Arrivals page where recently added resumes are displayed.
Q: Why
are the freshest resumes on this site nearly a month old ?
A: In
an effort to maintain an advantage for the paid-subscribers of their
own resume banks, fee-based career sites are permitted to reserve
newer resumes for exclusive-viewing by member-recruiters using their
own site.
Q: Do
the resumes on this site appear different than on the originating
paid-site?
A: Yes.
Although the text of the resume does not change, often some detailed
profile information about the candidate may not be displayed.
Examples of this are the candidate's years of experience, detailed
relocation preferences, and telephone contact information.
The site that the resume originates from maintains the right to
determine what information is shown on submitted resumes.
Q: How do I
know which career site a resume came from?
A: Resumes
on this site do not currently display the names of (or links to) the
originating career site, however this feature is likely to be
integrated into resumes on this site in the future. Please
contact us for a list of paid-sites that
currently post resumes on this site.
Q: Why
isn't the candidate's phone number shown on most resumes?
A: Due
to the large quantity of recruiters accessing the resumes on this
site, an 'anonymous-email' interface is the only proven way to protect
job seekers from spam (junk mail and junk calls). Since many of
the resumes on this site are active in parallel on the originating
paid-site, steps must be taken to insure that the job-seeker's privacy
is protected wherever their resume is posted. The problem
of 'spam' is especially germane to this site due to the nature of it's
'free' audience.
Q: Why
don't I ever see any new resumes when I come here?
A: This
site is updated with new resumes each weeknight (typically a new
batch of resumes is added once a day - late at night). If
you are coming here and are not seeing any new resumes - it may be
that your browser is 'caching' (or holding on to) old category pages
that do not list the newer resumes. If you suspect that this is
happening - you can simply click your browser's REFRESH button at the
top of your screen. When you do this - you force your
computer into loading the most recent copies of our resume
lists. Some categories however, may not have any new
resumes added to them for weeks at a time (the Idaho
208 area code category is a good example of
this) Be sure to check our New
Arrivals page whenever you visit this site, or better yet check
our VIP Preview page to see the very
latest resumes that have become available.
Q: What
are the most popular category pages on this site?
A: Every
recruiter has different hiring needs which drive their selection of
category pages. However, some category pages enjoy great
popularity due to the high-demand of particular skill-sets or
geographic areas. For technical skills, currently, our PeopleSoft
category is very popular
with recruiters, as are the Networking
and DBA categories. The
general-skills categories that seem to be the most popular are the Willing
To Relocate and Guru
pages. Again, if you find any of these to be relevant to
your needs - feel free to visit them and then bookmark them (add them
to favorites) for future quick-reference.
